Should I fast before an LFT?
Eight hours of fasting gives the cleanest result, especially for bilirubin and albumin. Water is allowed. If your doctor wants the test urgently, we will still run it without fasting and note it on the report.
My SGPT is high — is that serious?
A mildly raised SGPT is common with fatty liver, recent alcohol or paracetamol use, or a viral infection.
